One Conversation That Changed My Life
I used to think life was all about having fun. I would skip reading, ignore my notebooks, and spend hours chatting and playing with friends. Tests and exams felt like just another game, and I never worried much about the future.

But after my 8th-grade final exams, things hit me differently. I got around 80%, while my sister scored 84.95%. I felt disappointed and a little lost. I didn’t know how to do better or what I really wanted from life.
One evening, my mother called me to sit beside her. She looked straight into my eyes and said something I will never forget:

“Lisha, if you don’t study, no one will respect you. People may tease you, and even in our family, your words and opinions will not carry value. Education is what will give you respect, confidence, and strength in life.”
I remember feeling a heavy pause inside me — it was like someone had switched on a light I didn’t know existed. For the first time, I understood that studying wasn’t just about marks, it was about building my future, my respect, and my own strength.

From that day, I changed. I started reading regularly, focusing on my goals, and taking small steps each day. Slowly, I noticed the difference — I felt confident, capable, and proud of myself. Even friends noticed the change, and I felt more in control of my life.

That one conversation didn’t just make me study — it made me understand life, responsibility, and self-respect. I am grateful to my mother for showing me that sometimes, the right words at the right time can change everything.
