If I Were Principal for a Day

Have you ever imagined having the power to be the principal for a day? To make decisions that affect the entire school, bring exciting changes, and leave a positive mark on everyone’s day? This thought always sparks in my mind. I know it’s a big responsibility, but after spending five years in this school, I believe I could make that day truly transformative.
If I were principal, I would focus on three key changes to make our school an even more amazing place to learn and grow.

First, I would dedicate the first hour of the day to brighten everyone’s mood. Imagine starting school with excitement rather than routine! “Magical Mondays” could include a fun show-and-tell, magical stories from teachers, or creative prompts for students to write. Starting the day with a theme or activity would make students look forward to school and set a happy tone for the rest of the day.

Second, I would make classroom learning more engaging and relatable. Often, topics feel interesting to a few students, while others just sit and doodle or zone out. I would introduce interactive activities—like imagining oneself as a Spanish missionary while learning history—to help students connect with the subject. When students can relate to what they’re learning, they understand its value better and enjoy the process more.

Third, I would give physical education (PE) the attention it deserves. Many students feel overburdened with homework and academics, and PE often gets neglected. I would make PE mandatory five days a week, allowing students to choose sports they enjoy. Active students are more awake, enthusiastic, and ready to participate in class. PE doesn’t just keep us fit—it helps our minds stay sharp and our energy positive.
In conclusion, if I were principal for a day, I would make mornings joyful, classrooms engaging, and physical education a priority. Even if I don’t get the chance to be principal, I feel motivated to share these ideas through our student council. I hope these changes, even partially, can be implemented to make our school a brighter, more exciting place for every student.
