Magical Powers of Music

Have you ever felt that music can make you forget all your worries in just a few minutes? That’s exactly how I feel when I listen to my favorite songs. Sometimes I close my eyes, tap my feet, or even hum along, and suddenly the world feels brighter and happier. Music is like magic — it can calm our mind, cheer us up, and even make us brave when we feel scared.

Long ago, music had magical powers too. In the Dwapar Yuga, the gopis would be completely mesmerized by the sound of Lord Krishna’s flute. They would forget everything else and lose themselves in the music. Isn’t that amazing? Even today, scientists have found that plants grow faster when they hear music! Music truly seems to bring life and joy everywhere.
Music comes in many forms. Two famous types in India are Hindustani and Karnatic classical music. Hindustani music focuses more on Raagas, while Karnatic music focuses on Rhythm and Tala.

In Hindustani music, we learn raagas like Bhimpalasi, Kalyan, Poorvi, and Yaman. In Karnatic music, we practice Swara exercises, Geetams, Swarajatis, Varnam, and Kirtanam. Every song and rhythm has a story and a feeling behind it.
Music also has many benefits. It can lift our mood, reduce stress, calm our mind, and even ease pain. It gives comfort, peace, and can help us focus and remember things better.

Music is everywhere. The rhythm of our heartbeat, our breathing, even the sound of footsteps — everything has music in it. Every living being has music within them, and it can express all kinds of emotions without any words.

I feel that music is more than just sound. It is a way to connect with the divine and feel closer to God. When I play or listen to music, I feel lighter, happier, and peaceful. It’s truly a magical gift in our lives.
Music is not just something we hear — it is something we feel, something we live.
