The Day I Learned Patience and Respect
Every year, I visit the temple of Lord Shiva. Last year, I was super excited—not for the darshan, but for the fun, the food, and the festive vibe. I didn’t really think about the importance of the visit.

When we reached the temple, it was crowded. People stood patiently in long queues, waiting for their turn to see Lord Shiva. I became restless and complained to my father, “I can’t wait here! Let’s go, I want to eat and enjoy the festival!”

My father looked at me seriously and said, “Keerthi, God is not here for fun. Lord Shiva’s darshan is a blessing. If you don’t value it, you might miss his grace. Even the smallest happiness becomes difficult without it.”
His words hit me hard. I suddenly felt ashamed. I realized I had come to a sacred place, but my mind was somewhere else.

I quietly apologized to my father and folded my hands in front of Lord Shiva, asking for forgiveness.

That day changed me. I learned the importance of patience, devotion, and respect for our traditions. Now, every year, I stand in the queue calmly, take Lord Shiva’s blessings with gratitude, and then enjoy the festival fully with my family.
That day I accepted my mistake—and that was the day I truly began to grow up.
