The Fair of My Village

My village is Madapura, located in H.D. Kote taluk of Mysore district. It is a very special place because it has the famous Chandramouleshwar and Mallikarjuna Swamy temples. The most unique thing about our village is that there are two lingams together, which is very rare and makes our village special.
Every year, a big fair is held in our village, and it is the most exciting time for all of us. The whole village becomes full of energy, joy, and devotion.
The day before the fair, a special ritual called “Halaravi” is performed. It continues throughout the night, and no one sleeps. I also stayed awake with my family, watching the rituals and feeling very excited.

Early in the morning, the Kondotsava takes place. One of the most surprising parts of the festival is when people walk on hot embers (kenda) as an act of devotion. It feels amazing to watch their faith and courage.

Then comes “Annadasoha,” where food is served to everyone. Thousands of people gather, and no one leaves hungry. There are more than a hundred stalls selling toys, snacks, and many interesting things. The streets are beautifully decorated with lights, and the whole village looks bright and colorful.
People from nearby villages also come to attend the fair. In every house, sweets are prepared, and relatives are invited. Our house was also full of guests, laughter, and happiness.
The next day, a grand procession of the god takes place through the village. As the procession passes, people perform puja in front of their houses. I joined the fair happily and prayed for the well-being of my family.
For me, this fair is not just a celebration — it is a time when everyone comes together, shares love, and feels connected. It teaches us faith, togetherness, and respect for our traditions.
I feel proud of my village and its beautiful fair. Truly, God is great, and this fair brings happiness to everyone.
