What I Discovered About Mysuru Yoga
One day, I was hearing people talk about Mysuru. Everyone usually says Mysuru is famous for Dasara, sandalwood, and Mysuru Pak. Even I used to think the same. But then I came to know something interesting — Mysuru is also very famous for yoga. That made me curious. I remembered seeing pictures of a big yoga event at Mysuru Palace. Thousands of people were doing yoga together, and even our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had participated. It made me feel proud that such a big event happened in our city.

Then I started wondering, “Why is Mysuru so special for yoga?”When I learned more, I found out about a great person named Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. He had learned yoga in the mountains near Mount Kailash and spent many years studying it. Later, he came to Mysuru and started teaching yoga to people. I felt nice thinking that someone shared such important knowledge so that others could stay healthy.

I also learned that many students learned from him. Some of them, like B.K.S. Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois, taught yoga in their own ways. Because of them, yoga spread to many parts of the world. That is why Mysuru is now called the “Ashtanga Yoga Capital of the World.”

After knowing all this, I started looking at yoga differently. It is not just exercise — it is something that helps us stay healthy and calm. Now I feel proud that Mysuru, our own place, is connected to something so important. I also feel that we should practice yoga and share its benefits with others.
