The Beat of Kindness
It was my first day at Purna Chetana. Everything felt new — the classrooms, the teachers, the students, and the cheerful faces that smiled back at me. Everyone was so kind and welcoming that my nervousness slowly began to fade.
During the morning assembly, I noticed the school band performing. The beats of the drum and the rhythm of the instruments filled the air with energy. I felt an instant spark — I really wanted to be part of that band! But at the same time, a small voice inside whispered, “It’s okay, they are perfect without me.” So, I stayed quiet and simply watched from afar.

Days passed, classes went on, and one evening at home, I came across a few old books and a pair of base drumsticks I had bought but never used. Looking at them, a thought crossed my mind — maybe someone else could use these. Soon after, I heard that our school was collecting donations for books and other useful items. Without thinking twice, I decided to donate both the books and the drumsticks.

The next day, I handed over the books first. My teacher smiled warmly and thanked me. That simple moment of appreciation made me feel a deep happiness inside. Later, when I went to donate the drumsticks, I met the PT teacher, who was also the in-charge of the band group. He accepted them with joy and said,
“Thank you. I’ll write your name on these sticks so that we’ll always remember your kindness.”
His words touched me deeply. Then, to my surprise, he offered me a chance to join the school band! I was thrilled, but unfortunately, the band group was already full. Still, I didn’t feel bad. I was happy knowing my small act of kindness had helped and made others smile.

Since then, my teachers have continued to encourage me. They even gave me opportunities to anchor the Environment Day celebration and escort during the Investiture Ceremony.
Through all of this, I’ve realised something beautiful — kindness always finds its way back to you. It may start as a small act, but it grows into something much bigger: love, trust, and opportunity.
“Be kindful and stay kindfull.”
