Are We Truly Connected in the Digital World?
We live in a world where a message can travel across the globe in seconds. With smartphones, social media and messaging apps, we can talk to people anywhere and at any time. Technology has brought the world closer — but has it brought us closer to one another?

When our grandparents were young, life looked very different. There were no smartphones or social media. Children spent more time playing outdoors with friends, families sat together and conversations happened face to face. When they needed information, they turned to elders, libraries and books.

Today, information is available at our fingertips. We can learn something new within seconds and stay connected with friends and relatives who live far away. These are some of the greatest advantages technology has given us.
But there is another side to it.
Sometimes, we may be sitting in the same room with our family while each person is busy looking at a different screen. We may have hundreds of online connections, yet miss a simple conversation with the person sitting beside us. In trying to stay connected to everyone, are we sometimes forgetting to connect with those closest to us?

Technology itself is not the problem. How we use it makes the difference.
We do not have to choose between the digital world and the real world. What we need is balance — time to use technology, but also time to put our devices aside, talk to our family, meet our friends, play outdoors and enjoy moments without a screen.

Technology can connect our devices across any distance. But only our time, attention and care can truly connect our hearts.
