Two years ago, when I had just joined this school, everything felt so new and a little scary. People seemed confident, and I often felt out of place. Then one day, Vansh, who would later become one of my closest friends, spoke to me. Slowly, I started hanging out with him and his friends, and I began feeling at home.

During PE, I saw my friends playing football, and Vansh turned to me and said, “Come on, join us!” I hesitated, but something in me wanted to try. I wasn’t very good at first, but as I ran on the field, laughed, missed a few passes, and learned from Vansh, I started enjoying the game. With every practice, I got better, and football became something I loved.

Then came the football tournament at Delhi Public School. The PE team began selecting players. My friends were chosen quickly, and I felt nervous. I gave my best in every trial, and finally, on the last day, I was selected! But then I realized I didn’t have football studs. My heart sank for a moment, but I went to my dad, and he promised to get them the next day. Relief and excitement rushed through me. Vansh helped me practice even more, showing me new tricks and guiding me patiently.

The tournament day arrived. Our match was the 17th of the day, so we watched other matches, waiting and imagining ourselves on the field. When it was finally our turn, I was placed on the bench because I was short. The first half ended, and we were losing 2-0. I wanted to play so badly, my heart aching with every pass and goal by the other team, but the PE team didn’t let me on. By the end, we had lost 5-0. I felt disappointed and frustrated, but I also felt a spark inside me — a determination to work harder.

That day taught me the power of perseverance. I practiced more, listened to Vansh’s advice, and pushed myself beyond my limits. Later, I won two tournaments and was named Player of the Tournament twice.
